One such talent Chelsea are looking at is Steaua Bucharest winger Florinel Coman. That’s according to The Daily Mail, who say that Blues technical director Michael Emenalo was sent to watch the youngster in person last week.
However, he could cost a fair amount with the report also stating he has an £88m release clause in his contract, with his club reckoning his ability is even on a par with the likes of Kylian Mbappe.
Who is he?
Still just 19 years of age, Coman made a name for himself in the Romanian top-flight last season when he excelled for Viitorul Constanta, scoring six goals and providing seven assists in 28 appearances.
That prompted Steaua Bucharest to make their move for him and he’s featured heavily for them so far this season, making 14 appearances and providing two assists. It’s classy form for such a young talent and it’s no surprise clubs like Chelsea are reported to be tracking his progress. Also representing Romania at three age levels, it’s clear he has a bright future in the game.
It’s wise for the Stamford Bridge side to chase such talents. Often having to rely on their spending power, pursuing hidden talents could pay-off big time if they strike gold and bring the right youngster to London.
