da fezbet: Midfielder Christian Eriksen believes Tottenham Hotspur’s first-team squad has no weak links.
da leao: The Lilywhites have enjoyed a fantastic start to the season, propelling themselves to second place in the Premier League table with an emphatic win over Manchester City at White Hart Lane last weekend.
They’re now just a single point off the division’s summit, albeit two behind the Citizens in terms of goal difference, and as Football FanCast exclusively revealed earlier this week, a staggering 90% of readers who took our poll view Spurs as serious contenders in this season’s title race.
And it appears Danish international Eriksen, who has represented his country on 63 occasions, agrees with our readership – declaring that Spurs’ first-team squad has no weak links.
Earlier this week, the attacking midfielder told Tottenham Hotspur’s official website; “Everyone wants to play, everyone wants to win. We’ve got a very, very strong team and, even if we rotate a few players, the new ones will come in and fill the spots perfectly.
“Every player who comes in can play in different positions too. Sonny, for example, can play as a striker as well.
“He’s a different type to Harry Kane or Vincent Janssen so he filled in differently (against City) but it was the perfect mix on Sunday because City dropped a lot and there was a lot of space to run in between.
“At the moment there are no weak links and the result is that it only makes us stronger.”
The 24-year-old has been in strong form this season, especially away from home. In fact, he ranks first throughout Spurs’ squad for assists and chances created per match on the road, as shown below (courtesy of Whoscored):
