da realsbet: The heat around tonight’s Champions League clash between Ajax and Manchester City is certainly rising, with both team’s managers labeling the fixture as a must win game. Neither side have recorded a win yet in group D, leaving City in 3rd with just one point, and Ajax bottom with no points from two games.
da winzada777: The two teams will battle it out at the Amsterdam Arena tonight, however, whichever team fails to capture the three points can consider their Champions League ambitions to be all but over, in a difficult group with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund currently holding the qualifying positions.
Citizens boss Roberto Mancini has told reporters: “People think it will be easy on Wednesday but Ajax have a good young team and will play well. It is more difficult away from home.
“Maybe as a club, we need more experience, but we have good players and that’s why we should be in the second stage.
“We still have a chance to go through – but we must take our chances” said the Italian.
Meanwhile, Ajax coach Frank de Boer has stressed that a win tonight for the four-time European champions is vital.
“If you want to stay in Europe after the winter break, whether in the Champions League or Europa League, we need a result tomorrow.
“We believe in it. The Real [Madrid] match was a poor match for us and in the Borussia Dortmund game we were unlucky. Tomorrow is different.
“Manchester City are a good team but we have a good team as well and we have faith in a good result.”
The former Holland international went on to describe some of the differences between the two clubs in action tonight.
“We have no money like that so we have to be inventive and creative and we try to use our academy to get good development of young players. That’s how we survive.
“I like it more that way than just buying them, even though that’s much easier. It’s a philosophy. We have a different philosophy” added de Boer.
