da 888casino: Italy boss Cesare Prandelli has stated that his side can reach the latter stages of the Euro 2012 tournament, after watching his team beat Republic of Ireland 2-0 on Monday night.
A headed Antonio Cassano effort was followed by a Mario Balotelli volley to seal three points and a quarter-finals place for the Azzurri, who will now face Group D’s winners.
Prandelli feels his team played well and is looking forward to the next game.
“We wanted this victory so badly and I think we deserved to win and progress,” he told Rai Sport after the game, translated to English by Goal.com.
“The most important thing was that tonight we understood that we have to put a lot of determination into our game. We can achieve anything with this heart.
“In the quarter-finals we will have to show the same attitude. More important than the situations that we will come across will be showing the same commitment and spirit of sacrifice.
“We will always try to play good football, but we will try to be more clinical in attack,” he concluded.
Italy will face either England, France or Ukraine in the next stage.
