da apostebet: For a while, the weak link in an otherwise fairly solid Crystal Palace defence was Wayne Hennessey – the Welshman may have put in a few impressive performances last season and this campaign, but he is largely a liability and so the arrival of Vicente Guaita in the summer surely meant that the Eagles were finally going to be in a safe hands.
The Spaniard has provided that much-needed security and the whole back four looks better for it, but the stats behind the former Getafe man’s performances are even better than anyone imagined.
In a report published by Sky Sports, Guaita is second only to Petr Cech, who has made far fewer appearances than the 32-year-old, in terms of his all-round goalkeeping displays.
Watch how to cross the road like a boss with freestyler Ben Nuttall in the video below…
Guaita is statistically the best custodian in the league at coming for crosses, while his shot-stopping numbers are also respectable; his distribution requires some work but he was never meant to impact play in the way Manchester City’s Ederson does, for instance.
Roy Hodgson has said that Guiata is the Eagles’ no.1 and that is is up to Hennessey to wrestle the gloves back – surely, after seeing the former’s incredible stats, it will take a miracle for the former England boss to hand the gloves back over to the Welshman.
