Alasdair Gold has shared some early team news for Tottenham Hotspur ahead of their game at Watford in the Premier League later this afternoon.
The Lowdown: Last time out…
Spurs had to make do with just a point in the end away at Southampton in a 1-1 draw in midweek, despite Mohammed Salisu being sent off in the first half after receiving two yellow cards.
Harry Kane scored from the penalty spot to cancel out James Ward-Prowse’s opener for the hosts, but the scores ended up level, and the north London club will be hoping to go one better when they travel to Vicarage Road to face the Hornets.
The Latest: Lo Celso back
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Antonio Conte has revealed (via Gold) that Lo Celso has now ‘recovered’ from his injury and is ‘available’ to play against Watford, which he says is ‘good news’.
However, the Tottenham manager ruled out Cristian Romero, Steven Bergwijn and Ryan Sessegnon from taking any part.
The Verdict: Big boost
Given that the 25-year-old has missed a large chunk of the season so far with injury, it will no doubt be a big and welcome boost for Conte to have Lo Celso back in the squad.
Described as being ‘magnificent’ on the ball by former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, the Argentina international ranks highly among his teammates in terms of shots (1.3), key passes (0.7) and dribbles (one) averaged in the Premier League so far this term (WhoScored).
He is a player capable of making the Lilywhites tick, and they may need his spark if they are to take all three points at Vicarage Road later.
In other news, this ‘magician’ could now return to Hotspur Way
