da bet esporte: Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has stated that he would like to see club boss Arsene Wenger as the next England manager, as he starts to recover fitness.
Fabio Capello is likely to step down as The Three Lions’ coach after Euro 2012, with the press already speculating who the next national selector could be.
Wilshere has praised the Frenchman, and thinks he would be a good choice by the FA if he was interested.
“I don’t think it would be a bad thing,” The Gunners midfielder told Mirror Football.
“The boss proves it every year.
“I can’t remember the last time we didn’t qualify out of the group for the Champions League’s last 16. For me, he and Sir Alex Ferguson are the best in the Premier League and people questioning them are stupid.
“If the boss wanted the England job I’d be delighted with that,” he stated.
Wilshere has missed the entire 2011-12 season so far through injury, but has revealed that his rehabilitation is going well.
“It’s coming along well, I’m working hard in the gym every day and feel I’m in good hands at Arsenal.
“We’ve had a few injured at Arsenal in recent years, like Aaron Ramsey but they are helping me through it.
“I can’t put a specific date on it, but some time in January I’m hoping for if all goes well,” he admitted.
